With the electronic Library of Alexandria at everyone’s fingertips nowadays, it seems most still want to be spoonfed what they need to know.
One thing I cannot stand is people who need to be told everything and are unwilling to find things out for themselves. These types of people will ask for all sorts of books, research, etc. from you but will not actually put any time into reading it.
Met a lot of interns interested in Westside/Conjugate, but only read the back cover, and claim they are knowledgeable in the system. As well as coaches who trick unknowing athletic directors/sport coaches into giving them jobs because they list all these things and use big words. Yet when push comes to shove, they do worthless crap with their athletes and clients (ex. Coach Too Too).
This happens in every business I am sure. It just pains me that people fail to teach and learn for themselves. How could you program for a team or your clients when you yourself has never taken yourself to the point of complete failure or the “wow, I might get rhabdo.” This is complete negligence to your clients but mostly yourself.
Why is pushing yourself to truly be better such a difficult concept? What is the draw of ignorantly walking through life or just your career?
Thank you, for reading my short, little rant/TED talk.
