You are judged by the music you train to. Let’s all be honest with ourselves here, we all gauge each other by the tune selection.
Obviously music is art and quite subjective. Whatever moves you, moves you. But, you can’t tell me you are going ballistic in the weight room with Raspberry Beret playing. (not a knock on Prince, I am a HUGE Prince guy)
You walk into some rotund man blasting Slayer, more than likely he is horsing some big weight. You may walk in on some “on God, that’s bussin’” Broccoli Heads, blasting some new rapper that they in no way can relate to what he’s saying, getting stapled to the bench with 225.
I am biassed. I am a metal and country guy, with some Sinatra, Prince, and a few others tossed in. For me, I need something with some kahunas playing. I want Kublai Khan TX turned all the way up.
One of my coworkers can have Sinatra blaring at 5:30am on Friday morning while doing what he calls “Death by Cluster” Squats. It is a psychosis that I admire and love. The thought of trying to come out of the hole to “Luck Be A Lady” is insane to me (LOL).
Again, to each their own in all reality.
What got me fired up to write about music choice was me having a moment this morning. I’ve always been a metal and rock guy, but never liked Tool. Yet, this morning I found myself in an autistic like stupor, cranking out weeks of Rottweiler programming (available Friday August 23rd) for an hour and a half, listening to Tool essentials playlist. I'd like to think it's the intellectual side of me coming out, but I don't know.
Music is Art. Whatever moves you and fires you up, listen to it. Regardless of have nutless it may seem to others.
