Knowledge in coaching. Something many have yet the overshadowing number of those who don’t, over power social media and gyms across the country. Any choch with an iphone, a tripod, and a half a decent physique and/or lifts suddenly thinks he or she is qualified and knowledgeable to lead others towards their goals while charging an arm and a leg for it.
There are exceptions I am sure, and by no means am I a Louie Simmons type figure in this community. BUt after 5 years in the business of collegiate strength & conditioning, a college football career-ish, and 8-10 years of legitimate training (different styles throughout), I have concluded one major thing: Some people are glorified snake oil salesmen or flat out mentally inept. Yet ignorance is bliss. What I mean by knowledge isn’t by having certifications or not. Because, I have been around enough clowns with letters behind their names and a lot of intelligent people without. Understanding what experience you have and can speak on I feel is the separation. I’m all for helping people, but speaking on something you don’t have a rat’s patoot of experience in is mind-blowing to me.
Knowledge comes with time and knowledge comes with the ability to analyze yourself.
